ReplyDeleteOh MOB dress. . . well my mother is convinced MOB dresses are old-fashioned so she has been dragging her feet about it. Her cousin finally decided to take her to a local store. Hopefully this won't traumatize her. Eventually she does need to buy a dress . . .

ReplyDeleteMy mom wore something she already owned, so no stress there!
ReplyDeleteMy mom is still in her 40s, and DB definitely didn't have anything appropriate for a young, hot MOTB. We live in different towns, but she went shopping at a bunch of different places (Nordstrom was one of them!) armed with my wonderful father and the ever-so-handy camera phone! It worked out fabulously!

ReplyDeleteI just gave my mom examples of colors and styles I liked and she bought two dresses and asked me if I liked either of them and the one was perfect and so that was the one!
ReplyDeleteI am a follower of your new blog and of course your "old" one.
ReplyDeleteDress shopping with my mom is probably going to be rough. lol. We have completely different taste and I'd like to make sure she wears something appropriate for a MOB, but she seems to think all MOB dresses are "old lady" looking. haha.
ReplyDeleteI'm also a follower of his blog, of course.
ReplyDeleteand I'm a follower of your new blog too! Yay!
ReplyDeletemy mom is having such a hard time finding one...and half the battle is getting her into the store!

ReplyDeleteMy mom found a MOB dress while I was trying on dresses at David's Bridal. I didn't end up finding a dress I liked there, but she found a beautiful dress that was really flattering on her (it was black and white)

I let my mom pick out whatever she wanted. She ended up finding something great at a local consignment shop!
ReplyDeleteMy Mom found a dress she really liked on clearance at Dillard's one day. Then she wasn't sure, so she got another dress a couple weeks later. She finally settled on the original!

My mom bought something like 5 dresses before she picked the one that she wore. It was more stressful than finding my dress, but hey it's her little girl's big day- so I completely understand wanting it to be "perfect"

ReplyDeleteGreat giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI gave my future mother in law a booklet from Alfred Angelo circling all the dress styles I liked and the colors that would match our theme. She is excited to start looking and shop for the dress elsewhere where she can find cheaper/similar styles. Nordstroms would be a great place for her to get a dress!
I would love to win this to give to my fiance though. It would be nice to apply this towards a khaki suit for him to wear on our wedding day as we're on a very tight budget.
Thanks for the opportunity girlie!

I let my mom look for hers. I got married on a beach so it was fairly easy. She did try to wear white, which almost made me scream, but opted for yellow instead. Thank goodness!

My mother found her dress at Macy's! It was cream colored with some sequel. It was perfect on her!
ReplyDeleteMy mom's already bought her dress from Nordstrom (such a fun and easy experience!) and I'd love to use this gift card to have a special moment with my future mother-in-law - she's lost a significant amount of weight over the past year, and I think finding the right dress would be magical for her.
ReplyDeleteAfter shopping and shopping and shopping, I finally ordered a dress...not my first choice, but it had to do. I got rid of it as soon as the wedding was over. For the next wedding I plan on using this Nordstrom gift card!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!
And I'm a follower.
ReplyDeleteAnd now a follower of your new blog as well!
ReplyDeleteWe found a perfect but expensive dress at the same place that I bought my wedding dress....so we looked EVERYWHERE for weeks until we decided to bite the bullet and buy the expensive one.

ReplyDeleteOur MOB was a tad difficult because she didn't want to look too matronly or too young (her words) and she wanted to coordinate with my future MIL who lives in England. All's well that ends well and looking back, it really didn't matter- she looked lovely!
ReplyDeleteLooked for the MOB dress at Nordstrom Rack! Got a great deal, but you do have to shop around
ReplyDeleteI'm also a follower
ReplyDeleteNIGHTMARE! my mil bought her dress, brought it over, and expected me to change my colors to match her dress. we smoothed it all out, and it was a trully beautiful wedding!
ReplyDeleteMy mother doesn't like to shop so I had the honor of shopping for her MOB dress. I love shopping for other people (smile)

ReplyDeleteOh hi! I'm a Mrs F too :)
ReplyDeleteFor my mother-of-the-bride dress..I had it easy. I had a small wedding and I didn't care too much about alot of the small details that alot of other people think are important. So I turned my mom loose in Macy's and told her to pick something pretty :)
I follow your new blog too.
ReplyDeleteI don't really remember too much about mother of the bride dress shopping. I think she found the actual dress on her own. There was one dress that was marked by the maker wrong and it was at least 4 sizes smaller than marked. It was so funny watching her try to get it on and off!
ReplyDeleteI'm a follower!
ReplyDeleteI follow this, your other blog and I follow you on twitter (and am tweeting your giveaway now)! My mom found a dress in an ad in a magazine for a Lilly Pulitzer dress (I had a beach wedding) and decided that was it. She tracked it down and it was super super cute and perfect for the day!
ReplyDeleteMy mom made her own dress.
ReplyDeleteI just let my mother-in-law pick out her own dress because I didn't want to deal with it :D

ReplyDeleteWell I haven't had this experience for myself yet, but I did go with my mom for my two sister's weddings. She was really young so traditional MOB dresses didn't really work. I think the first one we got at JCPenny, it was red which looked wonderful with the black BM dresses in pictures. The second was a maroon color. I'm not sure if my sister was upset that it wasn't in her color scheme, but my mother looked beautiful!
