I blogged previously about how I planned to dye rose petals from Dollar Tree a la Kristin at Unspecified Thoughts. I think I must have been dying a lot more than she did, because it took quite a bit longer for me, but it turned out just as well. I won't repost the tutorial, but you can find it here and the rose petals here.
I mixed the dyed hot pink petals (probably about 10 bags, or 3000 petals) with several bags of both light pink and white petals. I'd guess we had somewhere around 5000 petals total. I put them all in a huge trash bag and made sure it was well mixed and then we scattered them down the aisle. I love how they turned out!
For about $20 and 30 minutes of work, this project added the perfect pop of color on our aisle. And afterward the petals were just pushed to the middle of the runner and folded up in it for easy clean up.
300 petals for $1 is by far the cheapest I was able to find for artificial rose petals, and by dying the white whatever color you need, they can work with any color scheme! I'd definitely recommend checking out Dollar Tree before the wedding sections in Michaels, Hobby Lobby, or Wal-Mart.
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! Make sure to check out the giveaway from Sebrina of Mismikado Down the Aisle for an order of door hangers from my etsy shop and don't forget to enter my giveaway from CSN stores that ends Sunday!
These look great and what a great idea to dye them! I really wanted rose petals lining our aisle but the venue said we would have to pick them up after the ceremony (real or artifical) and since the original plan was to get married outside we figured it would be too much of a pain to clean up after the ceremony so we just scraped the idea and lined it with candles instead.
