I blogged previously about the small gifts that I planned on giving to David before the wedding. Here's how they turned out!
When I went to order the cuff links I had planned on getting him, they were unavailable. He actually ended up picking out his own (and a matching tie tack) but I'm glad that they're something he'll wear again!
I don't have a picture of the cuff links, but you can see his tie tack in this picture!
And lastly, the canvas print of KU's basketball arena, Allen Fieldhouse
I can't get a very good picture of it, but it turned out awesome!
Ok, if you're reading and you're related to me (besides you, mom) or know me in real life and don't already know what this is about, you should probably just stop here. If you're not, you should check out my big gift for David!
I kind of alluded to the fact that I had a somewhat private 'big' gift that I wanted to give David myself. I bet you can guess what it was!
Boudoir pictures are becoming more and more common for groom's gifts. I debated for a long time about whether I could really do it. I've struggled with self confidence for as long as I can remember, and having pictures taken was terrifying. But I'd heard from SO many other brides that it did wonders for their self esteem and they absolutely loved the experience. So I made the appointment (with Brandi, our photographer) for spring break, the same day as my hair trial.
It was SO much fun. I was really anxious when I got there, but Brandi was great about making me feel comfortable and helping me pose in ways that were most flattering. The experience was honestly as much for me as it was for David. I had been watching what I ate and working on becoming healthier, and the pictures really reflected that, which made me excited about my progress. I felt so much better about myself after the shoot, and even better after seeing the pictures!

I gave David the pictures the night of our wedding when we got to the hotel room. It was so personal and intimate, and I absolutely LOVED that time with him. I got to sit there and watch him look through it with his mouth hanging open. I wouldn't have had it any other way. I would recommend boudoir pictures to any bride, but especially those who struggle with their body. Like Brandi says, she loves these shoots because every woman should feel beautiful. And that's the truth! Not only will your husband love the pictures - YOU will love pictures of your body and that's important too!

I know I was reassured by seeing other girls' pictures, particularly if they were close to my size. If you have any questions or concerns or are looking for more inspiration, contact me! I'm not going to put any more revealing pictures on my blog since my name can be associated with it, but you can always email me. I can't say enough about how great I think the experience is! You definitely won't regret it!
What did you gift your groom? If you did boudoir pictures, did you have a similar experience?

Those pics are great! I love the gift ideas and the "in case of cold feet" packaging!
ReplyDeleteI gave my groom "cold feet" socks, too, and he loved them! Such a cute idea. :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pictures! I did b-pics and gave them to my hubby on our honeymoon. He loved them1
ReplyDeleteWhat fun ideas! Thanks for sharing, your brave to do the pics!
ReplyDeleteI am going to make a scrapbook of all our events leading up to the big day!
I want him to wear socks, so I'm gonna make the same little thing you did, love it!
He is a die hard fisherman, so I'm going to buy him a life time fishing license, its cheaper in the long run and I have a wooden/rustic frame to put it in and then set it out by his "fish" cake
I'd love to do boudoir photos! There's no way I can afford to do them though. Not now.
ReplyDeleteAwww you're so pretty :) I did b-pics and Josh loved them and was super surprised!
ReplyDeleteI did boudoir photos, but I'm miserable at keeping surprises. Honestly, it was more for me than my hubby anyway. After a breast reduction a few years ago, I really wanted to do something to celebrate my body. It's a great way to feel confident and comfortable with yourself, imperfections and all!
ReplyDeleteGreat pics! You look awesome! Great gifts for your groom :) I'm sure he loved all of them!
ReplyDeleteYour photos are beautiful...I be they all look amazing :)
ReplyDeleteI also did the cuff links and the "In case you get cold feet" socks. Though we didn't get the shoe shot because our photographer forgot about it :( But we are getting a second chance to get it from some exciting news I haven't shared yet :)
Mr Fix It actually asked me if he could return the cuff links after the wedding because he thought they were too expensive...silly boy. But he did love them and I'm sure your David loved everything, too.
We didn't exchange gifts for each other since we were spending everything on the wedding though I did get him an "engagement gift" since he bought me a ring.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking of doing a boudoir photobook for him for our 1st anniversary.
I'm so happy you did your boudoir shoot :) From the photos you showed it looks like it went very well!
