Music is so powerful. There are certain songs that bring tears to my eyes every single time I hear them. I recently found the song "When I Say I Do" by Matthew West and it's definitely one of those songs. It would be so perfect to use at some point during our ceremony. You must listen:
We're already using "The Luckiest" by Ben Folds (sung by two of our amazingly talented high school friends - more on that soon!) during the lighting of the unity candle, but I'd really like to incorporate this song somehow. How many songs are reasonable? And what would we do while it was being played? Help me out here!
Do you have special songs you're incorporating into your ceremony? What are they? And what are you going to be doing while they're sung/played?
What a beautiful song...thank you for sharing! We are having a friend from our church play acoustic guitar and sing the song 'All of the Words' by Kutless at our ceremony. While he is playing the song, we will be saying a silent prayer with our pastor and taking communion. And of course, there's the song I'll be walking down the aisle to which is part of the sneak peek video I shared earlier this week :)
ReplyDeleteI walked down the aisle to Tom Petty's Wildflowers. I love that song! We had an outdoor ranch wedding, so it was perfect.

ReplyDeleteVery cool song! I think the number of songs depends on how important music is to you. You can incorporate a song into whatever part of the ceremony you want. I would say more than 2-3 songs during the ceremony is enough but you could always use it for a song before the ceremony as people are being seated or afterward as people are walking out.
ReplyDeleteI've never heard that song before. Never heard of the guy before either! That's beautiful and I'm tearing up at my desk right now :) We don't know what we are going to use for my walk down the aisle and then our walk back down the aisle as husband and wife. I do know that we'll dance to "Then" by Brad Paisley for our first dance...that song just makes me smile and tear up all at the same time AND some of it is exactly how our relationship has gone. I LOVE that Ben Folds song! I can't decide on any songs for my wedding-there's so many good ones I don't wanna start to chose!
