Treats for Tired Feet!

At all of our high school dances, I was the girl who kicked off her shoes as soon as she got there. It's so much easier to dance without shoes, and I looove dancing! But I'd always end up with really dirty feet and my friends who weren't so keen on having filthy feet would end up with sore feet from their heels. I can't remember where I first saw the idea for a basket of flip flops at the reception, but I immediately knew I had to do it!

Conveniently, Michaels had $1 flip flops in black, white, and pink (among other colors) this summer, so I picked up a bunch of them. At the end of the summer, they were on clearance for $0.70 so I bought even more! I think the flip flops were actually our first 'wedding related purchase' besides maybe the supplies for the girls' scrapbooks, which was so exciting! I also found a couple fabric covered bins on sale at Michaels in the perfect colors/design, so I bought both of them. I think they were close to $7:

I embellished one of them with some ribbon and a sign with a little poem:

The poem reads:
Dance so much your feet are sore?
Grab a pair and get back on the floor!
~Compliments of the Newlyweds~

The flip flops came with blue paper labels around them and gold stickers with the size on them. As cute as that sounds, it didn't quite match the whole black, white, and pink theme. So my lovely momma and BM S helped me take off all of the wrappers and stickers and add ribbon and tags cut from my Cricut!

I worked on the tags while my Mom and BM S worked on tying the ribbons:

And I LOVE how they turned out:

I hope lots of our friends take advantage of them at the reception, but if not, we're going to donate them to the children's home and homeless shelter in Wichita, so I'm not at all worried about 'wasting money' on this DIY project!

Are you doing something similar? Or have you seen this done at a wedding? If so, did you 'grab a pair'? :)

  1. I'm kind of wanting to do this project. I'm wondering how many I would need for about 200 guests? I am assuming the girls were really the only ones to use them. How did they go over at your wedding?
