Fabulous Fauxtobooths

I absolutely love the idea of having a photobooth. Unfortunately, renting an actual photobooth like in the below pictures is not in our budget, as fun as it would be!

I LOVED Mrs. Cupcake's photobooth pictures (obviously!)

I'm definitely interested in having a fauxtobooth, but I've seen a couple cute ideas and can't decide which I like better! First, I fell in love with a bold damask fabric backdrop, similar to this one:

*Don't remember the source, sorry!*

It would be so easy to set up, and wouldn't be too terribly expensive. I don't think we'd need more than 5 or 6 yards of fabric at the most.

Then, I happened to see this idea on multiple wedding blogs and fell in love with it! I told my mom about it and she loves it too! It would definitely require more work (and what will I do with it afterward??), but the adorable pictures might just be worth it:

Regardless of which option we chose, I think we'll just have a camera set up on a tripod and will have the 10-second timer setting on. I think, if we have a sign, that people will be be able/willing to press the shutter button and then pose for their picture. I guess that would be more difficult if we went with the second option, though. I think it would still work, but it would be a little harder to get in place behind the "wall," rather than just in front of the backdrop. Anyway, afterwards we'll upload all of the pictures (along with the ones that guests upload to the computer we'll have out) onto a photo sharing site. I'll have cards - likely mini moo cards; I knew I'd find some way to use them! - at each place setting with the link for our guests so that they can check out all of the pictures from the day.

What do you think? Stick with the fabric backdrop - the easier, less expensive option? Or go for the more expensive "picture wall" that would require more work, but will also allow for some awesome pictures?

  2. I do like the picture wall idea, but if that doesn't fit into your budget the fabric backdrop works just as well. I think both are great alternatives to a photobooth

  3. <3d Mrs. Cupcake's too. One of the bees had a fauxtobooth that she made her self... Here's the wiki page: wiki.weddingbee.com/Photobooth
I found a faux company here in my hometown that we're thinking of using.

  4. Instead of having the camera on a self timer you could always have a "camera attendant", maybe have your wedding party take half hour shifts or something like that (or even the significant others of your wedding party... I know from experience how boring/lonely a wedding reception can be for these people, especially if they don't know anyone else!)

  6. Yeah, I would suggest the simple fabric backdrop. As cool looking as the photo frame wall is, to me, it seemed like it limits the poses and ideas that your guests might have in front of the camera. A camera set on self timer or a camera attendant is the way to go with this and either would work fine...though I think the attendant would make it a little bit easier on the guests who don't understand or 'time' accordingly for timers. Either way, it will be so fun! We are actually having a rented photobooth and I am so excited about it! I'm working on getting props for it and making some too. :)

  7. I love the picture wall! It might be quite expensive, but maybe you can try to be creative and come up with a cheaper way of putting up one... like working with existing vintage photo frames that you already have at home, and if you have an old wall paper, all you have to do is to set it up. Maybe, if you can find a bigger frame, you can also incorporate it there, so guests can pose with more versatility.

  8. I loved everything about Mrs. Cupcakes wedding too. She has great taste and style!! We're doing a "fauxtobooth" too. I love the idea of the picture frame cutout backdrop, but I'm worried that it will take a long time to DIY and then how to get it to our site in one piece...but I agree that the pics would be soooooo worth it!!

  9. What if you had a simple back drop but then had a bunch of different sizes and styles of photo frames to use as props?
